One of our own joins the board of directors.

We are pleased to announce that our long-standing team member, James Hodgson, has been promoted to Director.

James joins Maureen, Andrew, Laura, Melanie, Penny, Shelley and Robert on our board of directors.

James joined Wilkinson Woodward as a Trainee Solicitor in 2010 after studying Law at Lancaster University and completing his Legal Practice course at the College of Law in Manchester.

Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2012, James, who is based in our Halifax office, can often also be found working with our clients in Huddersfield and Brighouse. Specialising in employment law, he also works on probate matters and civil litigation.

During his first fifteen years with the practice, James has been involved in a wide variety of company events and initiatives. As well as being a member of the marketing committee, he works closely with our family law specialist, Clive Masters, to arrange and compare our annual quiz.

A much-loved and very well attended event, the quiz, which is in support of local charities, is always a night to remember and it remains an unmissable event for many of our clients, suppliers and partners.

In the run-up to the quiz James also liaises with local businesses to appeal for donations, as prizes for the raffle that takes place on the night. Not an easy job (as you can imagine!), he always manages to secure a fantastic selection of contributions. Over the years, the quiz and the raffle have raised many thousands of pounds for local charities.

James is a keen sportsman and particularly enjoys playing tennis in his spare time, having won several local championships, including Calderdale Men's Singles, Calderdale Men's Doubles and Calderdale Mixed Doubles tournaments. When he’s not playing tennis, he also acts as Secretary for the Calderdale Tennis League.

As well as tennis James enjoys playing golf and regularly represents the practice at charity golf events throughout the year.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank James for all his hard work during his 15- year tenure and wish him all the very best in his new role.

We’re confident he’s going to be a ‘smashing’ success.
