Meet the Property Team: Melissa Crabtree
Sometimes, the best opportunities arise when you least expect them.
This was certainly the case for Melissa Crabtree, who recently joined Wilkinson Woodward’s Halifax branch as a Licensed conveyancer.
Being naturally sporty and with a love for the outdoors, Melissa was hoping to attend a sporting university. However, after leaving the Sixth Form, she decided to take a year off and found a job at a law firm. While there, she was exposed to the world of property and conveyancing. Finding the work interesting and engaging, what was supposed to be a temporary track before starting university turned into a professional passion which would ultimately define the course of her career.
With support from the firm, Melissa started attending different courses and studying part-time. Following many hours behind the books and much determination, she qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer.
For Melissa, being a conveyancer is hugely rewarding. “By ensuring the right steps take place at the right time for the right outcome, and by striving to provide consistently excellent service, I feel a great sense of achievement and satisfaction when I am able to help clients move into their dream home,” she says.
Prior to joining Wilkinson Woodward Melissa worked in a couple of firms. When the opportunity to join Wilkinson Woodward presented itself, she jumped at the chance. In addition to the timing being perfect, she had worked alongside several of the firm’s conveyancers and solicitors throughout her career and as such was familiar with Wilkinson Woodward’s culture and reputation.
“Wilkinson Woodward has a stellar reputation in the community,” says Melissa. “Not only that, but several members of the team have been with the firm for years. This speaks to the firm’s culture and commitment towards its people.”
Having benefited from working for a supportive firm when she started her conveyancing journey, Melissa also respects and appreciates the guidance and encouragement offered to all Wilkinson Woodward employees and the opportunities for career progression within the firm.
Additionally, she likes being able to live out her passion for property within a space of like-minded colleagues in Halifax, her hometown/where she has lived all her life, and participating in the firm’s regular charity and social events.
When she’s not working, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, three dogs and two cats. As an ardent animal lover, she hopes to soon add some pigs and goats to her menagerie.
