Meet the Property Team: Igors Scepecs
Client service excellence should be at the heart of any business, especially in the conveyancing industry.
This is the belief of Igors Scepecs, Conveyancing Executive at Wilkinson Woodward’s Halifax branch. Igors joined the Wilkinson Woodward Property team in 2021, bringing with him extensive experience as a Legal Assistant and a desire to become a qualified solicitor.
Following the completion of his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Bradford, Igors worked at Enact Conveyancing as a Legal Assistant for a year. He then joined Beaumont Legal where, following a year as Legal Assistant, he became a case handler, a position he held for three years. He also worked at Eversheds and Etons Solicitors as Legal Assistant before becoming part of the Wilkinson Woodward team.
Igors currently works with director and residential Conveyancing Solicitor Melanie Leadbitter, supporting on commercial transactions and handling conveyancing work. Originally joining as Legal Assistant, he has since started training to become a fee earner and is working towards becoming a qualified solicitor.
For Igors, career progression is one of the main benefits of working at Wilkinson Woodward. “Having the opportunity to further my career is terrific and I appreciate the team’s encouragement and guidance as I work towards becoming a fee earner. The on-the-job learning is particularly invaluable.”
Another highlight of working as part of the Wilkinson Woodward team, he says, is their personal service and approach. “While each case is treated as just another number at some firms, Wilkinson Woodward provides a personal service, meeting in person where required to build mutual trust and enhance client relationships.”
Igors believes that customer service is the most important element of his role, with legal coming second. “Although both aspects are vitally important, in order to be an excellent conveyancer, it is necessary to understand client feedback and provide a personalised service,” he says. “Good service comes from understanding the needs of the different clients, keeping promises and delivering consistently high standards.”
Being multilingual is an added benefit – Igors is fluent in Russian and Latvian – and has proved to be a valuable skill at Wilkinson Woodward, who serves communities across Calderdale and Kirklees.
Originally from Riga (Latvia), Igors enjoys working in Halifax – incidentally, his first job was as a shift manager at Wetherspoons, just across the road from Wilkinson Woodward – describing it is a vibrant town.
Wilkinson Woodward has a fantastic reputation across not only Halifax, Huddersfield and Brighouse, but throughout Yorkshire and beyond.
