Christmas comes but once a year...

As always at Christmas, the team at Wilkinson Woodward have been doing their bit to spread a little joy and goodwill.

Throughout festive period, we have taken part in various seasonal events, helping local charities and sprinkling some much-needed festive cheer at the Halifax Minster. Here’s a snapshot of what we have been doing.

Brighouse Christmas Fayre

The team turned out in force, on what was a bitterly cold day, to support festivities at Brighouse Christmas Fayre. Representatives from all three offices – Halifax, Huddersfield and Brighouse – dressed up in fancy dress to make it a fun day for everybody. Santa and his helpers were on hand to offer Christmas cheer and refreshments to passers-by, which went down very well with one and all!

Nearly £260 was raised by the team for Focus4Hope a charity based in Brighouse that seeks to provide support for the homeless, elderly, isolated, and vulnerable in West Yorkshire. Well done to everyone!

Halifax Minster Tree Festival

The historic Halifax Minster’s annual Christmas tree festival has become one of the town’s most popular seasonal attractions. Taking place at the beginning of December, families from across Calderdale and beyond come to admire the beautiful trees which are decorated by local families, businesses and organisations.

This year, Wilkinson Woodward sponsored a medium-sized tree at the festival, and family and care solicitor, Kate Machon, alongside trainees Max Fenton and Grace Smith, donated their time and creative talents to making it sparkle. Hopefully, our contribution will have added to the event’s Yuletide charm.

Christmas Jumper Day

December 7th saw the Wilkinson Woodward team get in the festive spirit by ditching our usual workwear and donning our cheery Christmas jumpers – except when in court, of course. However, with it being Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day, dress down privileges came with a donation request. This year, the generosity of staff across all our offices raised £255 for the charity which does so much to make a difference to the lives of children everywhere.

Huddersfield Team’s Gift Donations

The Leeds-based radio station, Pulse 1, has launched Mission Christmas, a bid to ensure no child in North and West Yorkshire wakes up on Christmas Day without having a present under the tree. To make sure this happens, the station’s presenters have appealed to listeners to buy one extra present that they can donate to struggling families. Touched by the appeal, the team at our Huddersfield branch decided to get involved and have generously been donating gifts to Mission Christmas. We all hope the appeal is a great success.

Overgate Donation Instead of Christmas Cards

While Christmas cards are a traditional way to send best wishes for the season, this year we have decided to do something different. Instead of sending cards, we are going to be making a donation to Overgate Hospice, which, as most people in Calderdale know, provides invaluable care and support for those with terminal illnesses and their loved ones. We are sure that those who normally receive a card from us will appreciate this gesture.

Christmas Closure Reminder

As we countdown to the big day, we would like to remind everyone that we will be taking a break over Christmas and the New Year. The firm will close at 12:30 pm on the 22nd December and will reopen at 9 am on the 2nd January. Like everyone, we’ll be using the holiday to spend some quality time with our families and recharge for the coming year.

Best Wishes for 2024

As we are not sending Christmas cards this year everyone at Wilkinson Woodward would like to take the opportunity to send out a heartfelt thank you to all our clients and suppliers for their support throughout 2023. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us. We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2024 and, in the meantime, send our best wishes for the season and wish you a happy 2024.
