Possession order to eviction in under nine weeks
According to statistics from the Ministry of Justice, in the spring of 2016 the average time between starting a claim for a possession order and getting the order enforced by the Court bailiff ranged from 40 to 45 weeks. If you are a landlord that sounds horrendous, but do not despair.
Our most recent experience in this area is rather different, when our civil litigation specialist Sue Woolford achieved a successful eviction in less than nine weeks from the claim being started in Court. This was due in part to the availability of the “accelerated possession” procedure (which is not available in all cases), the efficiency of the County Court at Huddersfield and, in particular, their Bailiff.
Not every case will be as smooth and swift as this but it does illustrate what can be achieved.
